When this happens, it affects the production of hair and causes the follicles to shrink, which will then result in the thinning of the hair and stop new hair from developing. Often, this happens when women reach the menopause age, and their bodies begin to change, but young women can experience it as well.

Dr. Woods explained that women could suffer from a temporary hair loss problem through pregnancy. Other reasons for hair loss in women can result from stress, illness, and poor diets.

Hairline Repair

Steve Repair of Pluggy, Uneven and Scarred Hairline

This patient had multiple unsatisfactory, pluggy procedures elsewhere. We repaired the situation by utilizing nape hair, chest and abdominal hair. None of the prior, pluggy grafts were removed, although this still may occur in the future. We created a more natural hairline and filled in the pluggy areas behind the hairline with 2,000 grafts. He is a work in progress, but already shows a dramatic improvement after a 3 day visit to our clinic. Please Note: The ‘Before’ photos were taken from a Digital Video Camera, hence the difference in skin tone compared to the ‘After’ photos which were taken from a Digital Still Camera.

Donor Site-Matt

Intra Operative Donor Images of Matt (aka ‘Photomatt’) 1,200 grafts were removed. These photos were taken IMMEDIATELY after graft removal on day 2.

The photos are of progressively closer views taken immediately after the second session.The only way to ascertain if any peripheral follicular damage exists is by examining the donor area closely at ‘ground zero’. Future procedures depend upon this.Note: Patient had some existing scars on scalp that were there prior to surgery. Use patient’s existing scars as a reference point for viewing photographs.

During 1800 graft removal

Healing will be rapid, and a “buzz cut” will be possible with no obvious detection from the 2 to 3 week mark.The emphasis is on donor site preservation. Each follicle is a precious and irreplaceable commodity and therefore the donor site must be treated by the surgeon with respect and accountability. Please note; when a follicle is removed, there is no encroachment upon or damage to peripheral follicles. In this case, removal of a further 2,000 grafts from the same area is immediately possible.

Darren – 1200 grafts, 2002

Darren had a completely bald frontal region extending to the vertex. He has coarse hair and an excellent result was acheived with approximately 1,200 grafts.

Tom – Donor Site, 2001

The four post and intra operative images show how the donor site looks during and immediatley after the procedure. Please note that the area has been cleaned and prepared for photographs.

Other images show how Tom’s donor site appeared at 3 weeks after his procedure. Notice that there is no visible evidence of donor hair removal. This allows clients to cut their hair relatively short after the procedure. Tom prefers to buzz cut his hair. It was an absolutely essential that the donor and recipient areas showed no evidence of a transplant procedure. These a representative of all cases. Please note that Tom decided to shave his head entirely before and after the procedure. This is not necessary for clients to do this. In this case, we removed the grafts in sections so that photos could be taken and clearly demonstrate healing rates, side by side, over a period of days.

Eyebrow

Eyebrow Reconstruction

With eyebrow reconstructions we utilize leg or nape hair. The hair is inserted using a 23 gauge hypodermic needle and it requires a high degree of micro-surgical skills.

Burt – 3500 grafts

3,500 grafts transplanted to the frontal and mid scalp region. 2 years ago. Patient returned for 1500 grafts mainly to the crown and some to the frontal hairline.
