MODE (Monitoring of Donor extraction)TM Pending

Dr Ray Woods, Sydney, Australia, Hair Transplant surgeon and inventor of FUE (FOLLICULAR UNIT EXTRACTION) and BHP (BODY HAIR TRANSPLANTATION) has yet again introduced a World First innovation, further enhancing patient understanding, control and magnified visualization during their hair transplant operation.

Dr Woods is often frustrated and angered that so many patients are promised massive graft number, but in reality, only a fraction results in growing hair.

The reason if FUE is very difficult to perform, but due to patient demand worldwide, doctors who do not have the appropriate prerequisite ability, skill or ethical intention, still provide it creating massive donor site destruction in the process.

Dr Woods sees this regularly, and in the interests of patient safety and protection, he introduced M.O.D.E., Monitoring of Donor Extraction.

The patient can now visualize each and every follicle extracted, be aware of transection rates (damaged follicles) and check for unnecessary peripheral or collateral donor destruction, all under HIGH POWER MAGNIFICATION.

The concept is quire straight forward. During the extraction process, there are 3 monitors placed around and under the patient, so that he has a complete and thorough view of the screens, regardless of his position.

All monitors are connected to the Zeiss, OPMI Overhead Ophthalmic Microscope, and under high power magnification the patient can see every follicle extracted and constantly review in real time what is happening to their head.

Dr Woods has always stipulated that ALL doctors, himself included, should be accountable for each and every precious follicle removed, and especially for any harm or damage caused.

MODE (monitoring of donor extraction) can be used to visualize donor head hair, and all body hair procedures including chest, abdomen, arm, back, and beard.

Despite MODE being presented on forums with approximately 12,000 views and several hundred replies, and acclaimed for its role in patient protection and doctor accountability, no other doctor worldwide has adopted it.

Which is understandable, as MODE shines a bright light on the surgeons ability and allows the patient to accurately assess transection rates, intra operative progress and whether or not the promised “numbers” are actually being delivered and at what “true” price.

To date, MODE has a 100% patient participation and approval rate.

Dr Ray Woods continues to push the boundaries and innovate to provide transparency, excellence and patient safety.

MODE is an invaluable addition to his Declaration of Patient Rights, which still sets an unequaled standard worldwide.

The Woods Technique List of Patient’s Rights

These are the principals upon which The Woods Technique has been built. It is our profound hope that one day; this document will be the standard by which all doctors in the industry abide.

1. No Strip Excision to be performed or offered by the clinic

2. No assistants or technicians performing any part of the procedure. Only a 1 to 1 doctor patient ratio:
The day a patient decides to alter their appearance via hair transplantation is one of the most important days in their life. They deserve the absolute attention of a skilled micro surgeon throughout the entire removal and placement of every follicle.

3. No unfair legal disclaimer:
This allows lawyers to defend the indefensible results of poor surgery.

4. All doctors are to be fully trained, assessed and accredited according to a strict code of conduct, ethics and ability:
All surgery is to be performed according to highly skilled micro surgical standards and discipline.

5. Patient interaction and intra-operative monitoring of follicular placement

6. Largest instrument to be used for follicular placement in normal skin is a 21 gauge hypodermic needle

7. Random intra operative video assessment of follicular removal from the donor site verifying transaction rate directly to the patient

8 Donor Site Conservation and Protection:
Avoidance of follicular damage due to incorrect technique, inexperience and production line mentality

9 No intravenous sedation/analgesia

The patient should be aware, lucid, fully informed and interacting during the procedure. Drugs that significantly affect the patients’ ability to make decisions and interact must not be used.

10. Do No Harm

None of the above are subject to compromise.
